I first bought a complete front brake kit from this company for my Jeep and they were great. Easy to put on, great performance, no problems. So when it was time to do the rear brakes this spring I went for the same kit, only for the rear brakes.
Everything seemed the same, easy to install, work great at stopping the vehicle but there is one big problem...these things are noisy!
Going down the road they sound like a christmas sleigh with bells. Singing, high pitched scraping sounds, it almost sounds like a metal on metal squeal. I don't get why, seing that they are ceramic pads, they should make a sound like that. And it's not all the time, mind you. But wait, it gets better. When you step on the brakes to use them, the sound changes to something like a meadow in the summertime around sunset. Literally like a million crickets in a field is what it sounds like when you step on the pedal. What the heck could that be? I think I got a crappy set of pads with the kit. I mean, there isn't a wrong way to assemble your brakes. They only go together one way, right?
The things work great at stopping and are easy to put on. It's just that they are really noisy, not at all like the front ones. I can't just take them off without buying a new set and doing all the work over again so I'll keep using them hoping that maybe there is a break-in period and the noise will just go away. It is already starting to get quieter but then there are days where I have to drive with the windows shut. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard.
