    Instructions are sketchy at best. The latch that the step is supposed to fold up and hook in does not work easily. We have to pull the step to the left to get it to latch properly. Also brackets need to be longer to fit in to both tow hook bolts for better stability.

    I ordered the AMI Swing Step because I liked the look and function. I installed it on a 2012 Ram 1500 Big Horn. The product showed up in a plain cardboard box, and all the parts were intact. The direction are poor at best, but if you have spent anytime around trucks you should not have a problem figuring it out. The hardest part of the install is cutting the holes for the brackets to pass through. I simply popped out the plastic piece and installed the brackets. Once the brackets were installed I lined up the plastic piece and marked the holes to cut out. The directions tell you the measure 28.5" and mark the bumper, but it's up to your eye to center everything. That's why I mounted the brackets first then cut the piece of plastic. Each bracket is stamped with a (L) and (R) so it's easy to line everything up. Left being the driver's side. Installation went smooth, but I had a difficult time mounting the brackets. The brackets fit perfectly, but it's just a weird angle to try and hold the bracket, thread a nut and bolt and line up to the existing bumper bolt holes. There's not a lot of room to work with around the bumper mounting points. The hardware looked like stainless steel bolts, with nylon lock nuts. Don't get carried away with the elbow grease on those. I installed each bracket and left them loose. The main guard attaches with (4) bolts and is adjustable up and down. Once I was happy with how everything lined up,I torqued everything down. I then lined up the plastic bumper piece and marked the areas to cut out. Worked out well!
