    The cargo box showed up on time, looked OK, then when we went to install it on top of car. Set it on car and went to open it and the top sprung up and came off of bottom of cargo box and slid down car. Scratching it. 6 month old $50,000.00 dollar vehicle. The manufacturer has no quality control, because they shipped it with only 1 hinge, there is suppose to be 2 hinges. Which caused it to fall apart.

    The Thule arrived in great shape. You will also need to purchase cross rails for your roof system, if you don't already have them - another $190 for my vehicle.

    Bought this for a 600 mile trip and it worked perfectly. First of all there was absolutely no wind noise from it. Fully loaded there was no rattling shaking or any vibration that I could detect. Similarly when it is empty. Those reviews that complain about the flimsy bottom - it is not an issue. Yes the bottom flexes but its supposed to and more importantly it does not affect the performance. The latch and lock is smooth as long as you line it up properly and do not overload the box.The beauty of this box is that it weighs 40 lbs and my wife and can lift it onto the roof of the SUV. I was going to purchase the heavier one that had metal reinforcement on the floor and I am glad that I did not. It needs two guys to lift onto the roof. I put two of the 2'x2' rubber flooring matts that Home Depot sells to line the floor of the box because I was carrying a mountain bike and did not want the sharp edge of the pedals impacting the box. I have now left them in there as they fit perfectly and provide a soft base. I picked up the box on the return leg of my 600 mile trip and wanted to compare gas mileage with and without the box over the same terrain. On the return trip I had a bit of a tailwind so the comparison may not be valid but I actually averaged better than without the box. Based on that, in no wind conditions I would expect the box to contribute very little to increased gas consumption. I also like the depth of this unit. I carried a mountain bike with the front wheel off and no adjustment to the handlebars. Otherwise it holds lots of thick bags, golf clubs, bike wheels, etc. A definite winner for me and the silver finish looks awsome.
