This is my 2nd purchase of the Gentex 50-GENK50A model. My wife love how it looks and operated on our 2015 Toyota 4runner and so we decided to purchase one for our 2015 Hyundai Elantra. While both cars are equipped with the outside temperature gauge, I use the mirror temperature gauge to read the interior of the car :) I my self love it unfortunately my wife wasn't the one installing it. The instructions is clear and step by step, you really can't mess up. But with some electrical knowledge you can make the installation a bit more easy. Although I did not run the temperature gauge through the firewall of the cars. I can see it being a problem for some folks in doing so. I suggest checking your vehicle and try running wires through the driver side firewall before making your purchase. Also the 4 pin White connector can be a pain. I wish it was a bit longer by 4 feet making it easier to hide. To Gentex developers: Can you make the all the home link icon have lights. I find it best if I can see what I'm pressing at night. If you do so in the future, please send me just the 2 mirrors to swap out only, I'll keep the wires lol. Oh and yes it does fit 99% of all newer vehicles on the market, convertible car may not work well since the top comes down, where would you hide the wires?
Install Time: 30-60 minutes
I now have this mirror in both of my vehicles. Simple simple installation although I paid a stereo company to splice in the wires as I didn't have a hot wire tester.
Install Time: 1-2 hours
The combination mirror, temp, direction, auto dimming and home-link mirror works just as advertised. A great improvement over the standard mirror.
