I was excited to have my running boards delivered in a short amount of time, I think it only took 4-5 days to receive them. I opened the box to start the install and was puzzled by the hardware that was in the box. It appeared the incorrect hardware was packed in the box. Long story short, I ended up making 2 trips to the hardware store to purchase the bolts I needed for the install. I got the boards installed and they look great. The passengers side board had two fairly deep scratches in the top surface area (appearance side) of the board. This came for the factory like this, one scratch was about 1 inch long and the other one was about 3/4 of an inch long just ahead of the front rubber boot grip strip. I emailed Westin about these two issues, it's been almost a week and no reply yet from them about the issues. The only other thing I wished they would have done differently is include a fourth bracket on each side of the cab. The Chevrolet cab has the mounting holes for a fourth bracket but Westin doesn't include a fourth bracket, why not?? The holes for a fourth bracket are not on the underside of the board but I would assume Westin could easily remedy that. I'm a big boy, pretty sure there are others out there like me, an extra bracket never hurts!! Chevrolet OEM boards have four, why can't/don't Westin and other companies follow suit??

I have a 2019 Silverado crew cab that the rear holes did not line up. After struggling to figure it out I called Westin and they told me that Mexico made trucks had a different rear hole. Westin then sent me new brackets for the rear holes. Would have been nice to know that from the start. Now that they are on they are fantastic.

It was easy to install once I laid out all the pieces on my garage floor and matched my product with the inventory list. My truck had the factory installed bolts as indicated by the instructions. Since my truck was under coated, I took a small wire brush and cleaned off the bolt heads which made the assembly much easier. It is important to use some grease to lubricate the various bolts and nuts. I don’t own a torque wrench so I has to guess at the tightens of the various nuts and bolts. I chose the black aluminum running boards to match my black truck and black alloy wheels. Their appearance is stunning. I hope that the aluminum stands up to the use of road salt during Pennsylvania winters.

My neighbor has a 2015 GMC with this style running boards from the factory. I've driven his truck quite a bit and do like the boards. They are big, I'm 6' tall and can step over them but I do bump my leg and using them is easier than not. What I really like is they are high and tight to the rocker panel and the covered brackets make for a flowing seamless fit. These Westin R7s look like the GM, but they sit at least 1" lower than the GM boards and the bracket covers are a little short, so goodbye fit and flow. The R7s aren't as sturdy, I'm only 160-170 Lbs and the R7s have flex and the GMs do not. The R7s do work great though, maybe easier to use when needed, or to step over when I want to compared to the GMs due to the lower height. I do like these, but wish they had the higher, tighter to the rocker panel fit, and were sturdier like the ones these are copying. I almost forgot, the stainless is very soft on the edges. My drivers side one had 3-4 small mystery dents I noticed on day 3 under both step pads. The R7s aren't bad if you want something that kinda looks like the OEM factory style. Next time I'll get the OEM!
