BAK Bakflip F1 Tonneau Cover 772207

Instructions were a little difficult at first, but it is so easy to install-and it looks awesome.

I'm very happy with the BakFlip F1 I purchased for my 2016 Dodge Ram 1500. Installation was easy and took roughly 30 minutes. The shipping box was well padded so even though the outer cardboard was a bit damaged, the top was in excellent shape. Instructions were easy and the cover looks great!

The installation went well with no issues or problems. The instructions where clear and concise and all the parts relative to the installation for my truck was in the package. When installed the cover really enhanced the look of the truck ang I am very pleased with the look and finish.

Been a fan for 6 years, bought a new truck and ordered a F1 BakFlip the same day.

I waited several weeks before posting this review in order to have time to fully evaluate it, so let me begin with the good: The cover looks great on my truck and was very easy to install. I love how easy it is to open and fold back when I need the extra space, while providing a reasonably secure bed when it's closed, (I have a locking tailgate). Yes there are posts about how one could open this with a coat hanger, but honestly it's not that easy, certainly harder than a soft tonneau. If someone wants to get in they will, but this keeps the honest people honest. The F1 seems very strong and should hold up to heavy snow, but I don't think I would trust standing on it. Now the bad, first off Bak shipped this without the rails, but kudos to AAG for helping to contact Bak Industries and getting the rails shipped to me. Second their quality control needs work. There are metal filings everywhere and many of the rubber seals were pealing off. I had to remove the filings and press all of the rubber in place, so far it appears to be holding. Third, it leaked like crazy in the rain, primarily along the folding panels, this was disappointing. It also leaks like crazy at the rear against the tailgate but this I expected since there is nothing to take the water away as it runs down the side rail channels. (Yes there are tubes in the front but not the back) Good news is that I haven't had water up by the cab. To be fair I have noticed that the leaking water has diminished as the cover has been allowed to sit for weeks in the hot sun, I suspect that rubber gaskets and panel adhesive has softened and conformed better to the cover. But I will not be able to count on cargo remaining dry during rain storms. Overall I feel that for what you pay for this, and it being their top tier product, I expected a lot more out of it. The attention to detail during assembly seems very poor and the quality of materials is so so. For example the plastic brackets used to hold the rods when you fold this against the cab, feel as if they are going to break. One side barely stays in the track and neither holds very tight if pressure is applied. Get this if you want a flush mounted trifold cover that looks great on the truck and is easy to operate. But if you want a water-tight cover look elsewhere.
