I installed this on my 2014 Escape by myself. It would have been somewhat easier with 2 people. When I got it into position, I realized that the two tabs at the back were preventing the other mounting holes from lining up, and there was no way this was going to work.
I then had to pull it back out (a real hassle getting it past the muffler by yourself). I needed this for an upcoming trip, so I sawed the rear tabs off (another hassle) and mounted it using the remaining mounting holes. The finished job looked good, only the receiver shows, and it's still secure, even without the rear tabs I had to remove.

Once I understood the concept about fishing the bolts and plates through the frame channel the installation went pretty quickly: I was a little slow to catch on. I think the hitch will more than adequate to hold my yakima bike rack.
