I owned a first generation BakFlip for my Dakota and it was ok. This second generation for my RAM 1500 seems to fix most of the minor problem I had with the G1. The G2 looks great. Seems to be built well. Easy to install. Short of someone using a big crowbar, it seems pretty secure. I drove from Atlanta to PA in a steady 2-day rain storm. Its not 100% waterproof, but show me a cover that is? I was impressed how little water actually got in, and I didn't even have the drain tubes installed on the BakFlip's rails.

Yes, this is not completely waterproof as some reviews I have read complained about. I knew that when purchasing. Looks great and works great. Easy install by oneself. Also added bakbox. Not good if using for a business situation, but perfect for my personal use, by freeing up room in the backseat of the truck.

This is a quality product that met all of my expectations. Their customer assistance was very helpful and they really do beat any competetor's price. The most difficult part of installation was making sure that it was properly centered. I found that if you opened the cover to tighten the front it would move out of place, so it was much easier to just crawl under it to tighten the front.

If we installed another one, we could cut the time in half. I've had it for one month. So far, no leaks even in heavy rain. I'm very happy with the design and ease of use. It looks good on the truck. At this point, I would highly recommend.

The BakFlip G2 is everything I would want in a cover. I had a soft cover on my old truck and this beats a soft cover hands down! Easy to install. Used it fully for the first time moving my daughter to college. Drove through a heavy rainstorm and nothing got wet. The only drawback, and it's not a big deal, is that my trunk does not fully open because of the rails. It opens enough to get things in and out, so it really is fine.

Received and installed this cover on my 2006 Ram Quad cab 2 weeks ago. Installation was relatively easy only because my brother-in-law had done his with some help 2 months ago. The directions that come with this are woefully inadequate. Total time spent was almost 2 hours because I had to drill drainage holes in the bed of my truck. This cover looks great, and is a snap to open and close. The only reason I rated the quality at 4 stars was due to the machine screws snapping off at the head where the support rod attaches.

Overall a very easy install and the cover seals nicely. I have used it in the car wash, torrential rains and snow and the bed stays dry inside. The only suggestion I have would be to provide a better finish to the back edges of the cover in the corners. The side rails are trimmed and left as bare aluminum, which show up against the black rails and top. A plastic cap on these edges would really finish off the top. One other suggestion, which is very minor, would be to add a note to coat the tailgate top in silicone. In our first freezing rain the tailgate froze shut and I had to soak it in deicer then spray with silicone so it would not freeze shut.

Overall very satisfied. The front gasket supplied for my 2009 Ford truck was way to small. It need to be about 1/2 thick at the front of the truck bed. The gasket supplied was about 3/16 -"to thin". I think there should be 2 gaskets supplied for the back of the tailgate to help it be more water tite. Not as water-tite as I hoped. It is very nice looking and installed pretty easy My son helped me install mine( he has a bak flip also). While you can install it with one person, 2 makes it much easier W

I realize that a 5-star is high for a product that didn't receive a 5star in any one category, but this product really exceeded my expectations, the 4 star individuals are the Engineer in me. I love the flexibility of this design and the way it functions. It looks great on my brand new Silverado, and I like it better than the one piece hard cover that my friend decided on. He had the old version of the Bakflip so he went with the one piece, I think he regrets it but I understand the once burned feeling. Negatives, the instructions aren't clear on the shimming so make sure you don't mount the rails metal on metal ( alum on steel). I just Cash-Clunkered a 17 year old GMC (for a car) and it still looked good, I want this one to last as long so be careful and use the provided plastic strips. Other then the instructions, and the clap-trappy latch releases (although they function fine) this is a great product and Auto Accessory Garage is a very professional outfit ( and I'm a pretty tough sell).

A great cover I love the way it looks and it works very well. The only issue I have run into is some times the latch release cable does get stuck in the track and you have to dig around to get it out. A small peice of plastic under the cable keeping it out of the grooves fixed the problem. Also does not work with the 04 frontier nissan flip out bed extender.

This is an outstanding product! It is well made, easy to install and provides a strong cover for the truck bed. On my Honda Ridgeline I did need to apply a little sealant on the inside of the rails towards the back to stop leaks. It is now leak-free. Highly recommended tonneau cover! Auto Accessories had a great price and I received my Bakflip soon after placing my order. Overall I am very pleased with the quality and look of the G2 cover. The written directions that came with the cover could have been a little more detailed. However, you can go online and get better directions with video. It took about an hour to install... the bedliner on my truck interfered with cover at the tailgate... had to dremel some of the tailgate bed liner off to get cover to close. Also, I could not put clamps all the way back by the tailgate, so the rail ends were not sitting right and this was another reason the cover would not close. I drilled two small holes thru the rail into truck and put two small screws in and this solved the problem. The cover rail is sitting on truck bedrail fine now. My overall rating is 3. The rails did not fit. I had to grind the ends of them a little. I had to remove the drain tube fitting from the rail because it would not fit with the factory Ford bed liner. The bed liner is molded out in that area. I have to figure out how to drill a hole with out hacking up the liner. The rubber seal the bakflip rest on is crooked looks cheesy. The worst was receiving it with out the clamps and it taking 2 special shipments to get them. The directions should be included for the different bed liners. This could be a GREAT product if Bakflip took a few minutes longer on the quality control side. Little things go a long way.

This is an excellent product. Great design. Installation was very easy and just like the directions described; no hidden complications. Assembled in minutes. Looks great. Works great. The only negative note is that aluminum debris from the machine shop was inside the shipping packaging and created some small cuts and damage to the rubber seals. These were also very sharp and a nuissance to remove. Other than that, this product has my highest approval. I would definitely recommend the BakFlip tonneau cover.

I shopped a good bit for a Ridgeline bed cover. After seeing a Bak-Flip cover on my neighbor's GM truck, I ordered one and have no regrets. The cover arrived two days after ordering, nicely packaged in foam with no damage. Due to a hand injury, I installed the cover with one hand in less than an hour. It would probably be a 20 minute job with two hands. All seals work very well with no leaks and the cover looks great and operates perfectly! The only negative I see is the model for the Ridgeline seems a little pricey compared to others but of course the Ridgeline being a unique truck, there is not as much volumn. Now for a tailgate lock.

I recently installed a BAKFLIP hard tonneau cover on my Dakota. No previous experience was necessary to install it in one hour. No drilling was necessary and the kit was complete. The online installation video helped a lot.Using a tonneau cover allows bettervisibility from the rear of my vehicle and the design gives me use of the full bed when needed. It has both form and function. I checked gas mileage and it improved by 8/10ths of a mile per gallon.

Overall a very versatile and good looking bed cover. Instructions should be better and factory should do a better job putting the rubber seals on the aluminum rails. Before installing the shims inside the bed make sure the clamps will go under the rail where you plan to put the shims. After installing the shims on one side I found that the clamps would not go under the rail and I had to move the shims. There were plastic strips included with the BakFlip that I think go on top of the bed rail. These are not shown in the instructions or installation video. These strips are about 6 In. shorter than the bed rail. I don't know where they should they be installed. All the way to the front, all the way to the back, or centered? These plastic strips also cover part of the stake pockets so you can't use stake pocket tie downs. The rails have a gap under them at the ends with these strips installed so I left them out. The rubber seals on the inside of the aluminum rails ddi not go all the way to the ends of the rails.

Contrary to the advertised time for installation, it actually took me about a half an hour to get this cover put on, and it was the end of the weekend before I got the drainage right. Much of the installation time was spent opening the box and making sure everything was there (it was). If I had to do a second cover, sure, I could do it much more quickly. I love the cover, but there are two things that need improvement. First, the way the back lip meets the tailgate is a problem. As it's built, it provides a very good seal to keep water out of the bed of the truck, but there is a price to pay; every time you close your tailgate, you must first lift the BakFlip cover up so that the tailgate clears it. This seems like a small problem, until your other arm is busy holding something and you need to close the gate with your one free hand. Secondly, the water drains at the front of the truck bed are problematic. The drains consist of two 5/8 inch tubes that are supposed to be connected to small outlet spouts built into the BakFlip. The tubes then run to the drain plugs in the bed of your truck. If you own a pretty truck, be advised that this is a clunky look, as though your truck just had a minor surgical procedure done. If, like me, you have a BedRug (soft shell, carpet-type bed liner), you must remove the entire liner to get to the drains. Or, you could do what I did, which is drive to Home Depot, buy 16 feet of 5/8 tubing, and run the drains between the bed liner and the truck bed out to the tailgate. I had to cut slits in the liner to do this, but it worked out fine. Once installed, this cover has worked very well. I just made my first trip to the county dump and the BakFlip performed perfectly while in the open position. I did indeed gain access to the entire truck bed, so hauling away six trash cans and one old tonneau cover was almost as easy as if there were no cover at all. The cover, when standing open, takes away about four inches at the front of the bed's opening. If you're hauling something tall, like a piano, this could conceivably be a problem, but that's not likely and even if it were, the top can be completely removed by taking out two bolts. Also, be advised that when the BakFlip is open like this, it completely blocks your rear window. That's why we have side-view mirrors, people. The BakFlip is a very very good cover. I used it to replace a tonneau cover that was about 4 years old and had failed in a myriad of different ways. If you are buying your first-ever cover, do yourself a favor and spend the extra money up front on this one instead of buying a cheaper vinyl tonneau and replacing it with a BakFlip later, as I did. There is one small drip happening that I have to track down before I haul bags of QuickCrete or priceless Monet paintings, but that's a tuning issue. If you own a pickup, you're probably a good problem solver anyway.

I received this top, and installed it in about 30 minutes by myself. the top looks excellent, and seals good!! My only big complaint is that when you open and close the top, the underside of top has exposed metal, and each time you open and close the cover it rubs and in some cases scrathes the rubber seal on the outer edge along the bed rails. i sent it back and they sent me another one, (hoping mine was just defective) and this one too had the same issue (design flaw) and i attached some rubber sealing around the exposed metal to reduce the scrathing of the rubber seal. Bakflip needs to do a little improvement on that!!! So if thats a deal braker for you, don't get it -- but outside of that one (major issue) i love the appearance of the top!!!! also note, i have seen 0 difference in my fuel economy for what its worth!

I have had by bakflip cover for a month and so far really like it. We installed ourselves with few problems but it did take longer than it should have because the instructions were the worst I've ever seen. Improving them would be very easy. If you are mechanically minded at all you can figure it out, it would have just gone a lot quicker with better instructions. The internet video helped also. Now that we know how we could probably do it in 30 - 45 min easily. I do wish there was a way to open it from the outside and still be able to lock it so I could open it reach over the top and grab something out then shut it. Now you have to drop the tail gate to get something out and then you have to lift the lid to shut the tail gate which takes two hands -so you need to put down whatever you got out to do that. I am constantly in and out of it otherwise it wouldn't matter. I have not had the cover out in a heavy driving rain yet but I have not noticed any leaking problems. I do like it much better than my fiberglass top I had as I can completely open up the bed of the truck and I think the whole thing could be removed if wanted in a matter of minutes with two people yet seems very secure from break in when on. I carry a couple thousand dollars worth of tools in the back and I am not to concerned about someone getting in, however, if someone is determined I suppose they could get into about anything. I also like the fact that you can put up to 200 lbs. of distributed weight on top if you want. So far I think this is a great product!

I was surprised to have the cover shipped to me sooner than the scheduled delivery date. Once unboxed I found extra pieces (strips for the railings to be added along with the shims) included that weren't mentioned in the installation instructions. Turns out I needed them after I had done the install. After resolving that slight confusion, the assembly went together well and the sections snapped in place as advertised. This definately improves the look of the truck and I get compliments from other motorists. They want to know where to get one! I love the fact I can have full use of the bed like hauling my quads and not having to dismantle or remove anything like you would with hard tops. Another plus is less time to wax the truck since I'm not having to polish a hoard top tonneau. Overall I'm very satisfied and feel it was well worth the purchase.

It is handy to have 2 folks do the last step..attaching the final wing nuts to hold down the cover. The instructions don't include what to do with the self tapping screws even though it is obvious. I haven't installed them as the fit seems fine without them. The self stick tape on one of the plastic cover plates was shot. I ended up using black Gorilla tape to cover the opening. Was easy and quick to install by myself. The sections all work great, flip & lock as described. The section over the endgate could be designed a little different so that section doesnt need to be lifted to close the endgate. I am worried that somebody will open & then close the endgate without lifting it first and damage that seal part of the last section (I am not the one one to drive it).

I owned a BakFlip for my previous vechicle and so when I purchased a new truck I knew BakFLIP was what I wanted. The only issue I have with my new one is that in order to open the panel closest to the tailgate both wires have to be pulled. My previous BakFlip did not have this issue. I know that this was not due to my installiation because with the panel lifted up if you pull on one wire the other lock does not move. Other than that I have no complaints.

When I received my BakFlip G2 I was excited and wanted to get started right away. After opening the boxes and looking at the rails, I was confused at which end goes toward the cab and which end goes toward the tail gate. After figuring it out, 5 min later, I placed the rails and locked them down. The flip cover was packaged very well. It took me another 5 min to understand how it was placed on the rails, but again I figured it out. The cover went into place nicely and I secured it with the tighteners with no issues. Over all, this is an excellent product and improves the overall appearance of my truck.

I spent a lot of time looking around for the 'right' tonneau cover for my new Ridgeline. I settled on the Bakflip because I wanted something that was sturdy, easy to use, relatively secure and looked good. I was a little apprehensive about the ease of installation. Silly me - it was a piece of cake! For the Honda, you'll need a couple of torx sockets to remove six screws. The rest of the process uses common tools. I'm very happy with my Bakflip. The only issue is the release cable occasionally wants to hide within the extruded aluminum. I solved that by wrapping a short piece of velcro strap on the cable on that side.

The overall setup is quite useful. However, the BakFlip website leads you to believe that the cover will keep a good deal of water out of the bed (I've had tonneau covers in the past and I know they're not 100%). This cover is TERRIBLY disappointing in its ability to keep out water. After 1 day of driving in the rain (no carwash) the bed, and everything in it was SOAKED!!! Appearance-wise, while the outside of the cover is very appealing, the accessories that allow you to lower and re-install your factory rail system (Tundra) is not in the least bit visually appealing and is also less functional than the factory install. The inside of the cover also has many sharp, unfinished edges, so if you're planning on putting your dogs in the back don't be surprised if they end up with some good flesh wounds. Overall this isn't a bad cover, it looks pretty good from the outside, but the fit and functionality are not ideal for the price paid.

The installation took less than 45 minutes and the directions were clear and easy to follow. The only problem I had was that the knobs closed to the cab were too large to tighten correctly, it jammed against the drainage tube end. I solved that by substituting the knobs for wing nuts. For that reason I couldn't rate it 5-star. This is something that should be obvious to the designers.

Product arrived intact. Installation was straight forward. However there was minor scratching of the BF cover next to one of the joints requiring a little black paint touch-up, a couple very minor dents in the cover, and the arms supporting the cover against the cab are too short so they don't hold the cover securely against the cab when in the folded up-right position. Aside from that I'm very pleased with the way it looks in the prone position.

Overall I am very pleased so far with this tonneau cover. I purchased this to replace a Pace-Edwards tonneau that was 7 years old and giving me constant maintenance headaches. The only issue I have with the Bak Flip is that you must open the tailgate to open the tonneau. It seems that it would be pretty simple for the engineers at Bak Flip to design a latch that would be accessible from outside the tonneau. I read in some other reviews that people were having trouble with water leakage. The other day I drove 65mph in a monsoon for over an hour and when I arrived at my destination everything in the truck bed was perfectly dry.

This is actually my second BakFlip cover. I had one on a 2008 Nissan Frontier before I sold that truck to get the Ford. This cover does it all. It provides a hard top that is lockable using your tailgate's lock. So no flimsy, cheap lock like on other hard tops and superior security to a soft top. It keeps the bed dry and has channels that route the water out drain tubes. The tubes run out the front of your truck bed through the drain plugs on the wall. Neither truck experienced water in the bed with the cover on and closed. Best of all it simply folds up in sections if you need to haul something bigger than will fit under it. Takes just seconds to fold up and out of the way. No more removing the whole cover just to haul things. I would and have recommended it to others and as I stated, I liked it so much it was one of the first things on the new truck.

I love this thing, it is very functional. It has kept wheels safe in my bed, and the next day, I can fold it up, and take a load to the dump. The only problem I had with it, is on the Titan, the drain tubes do not fit through the holes in the bed, so I had to adapt them down to a smaller hose.

The cover install was as simple as it gets. I've had several covers on different trucks this one is the best by far. I was done in about a half hour! Didn't check for water yet but it seems tight and looks great. The only thing I might add is a light cable so I can open it without opening the tail gate when I feel like it.

I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE AT AUTO ACCESSORIES GARAGE. THEY HAD THE MODEL FOR MY TRUCK IN STOCK AND SHIPPED IT RIGHT AWAY. AS FAR AS THE COVER, IT WAS EASY TO INSTALL. I DID NOT FIND THE INSTRUCTIONS UNTIL I HAD FINISHED INSTALLING IT. THE COVER DOES NOT LEAK SO FAR AND THE DRAIN TUBES SEEM TO WORK AS DESIGNED. I DID NOT WANT TO DRILL HOLES IN MY TRUCK FOR THE DRAIN TUBES SO I RAN THEM INTO EMPTY LAUNDRY SOAP JUGS. THE JUGS FILL ABOUT 1/2 WAY WHEN I TAKE IT THROUGH THE CAR WASH. THE RUBBER SEALS HAVE NOT LAID DOWN YET BUT BAKFLIP TELLS ME THEY WILL IN THE SUMMER. I INSTALLED THIS COVER IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER SO I CAN UNDERSTAND. I THINK THE RAILS COULD BE A LITTLE BIT HEAVIER DUTY. THE DRAINS WORK GREAT BUT IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU DIDNT NEED THEM. THESE ARE MINOR COMPLAINTS AND THE COVER LOOKS REALLY NICE ON MY TRUCK.

This is the first cover I have owned, have had it for about 3 months and I thinks it is a great product and would recommend it to anyone looking the for easy and flexible use of vinyl but with the added security of solid panels. I was interested in the product because of the low profile look, security (better than vinyl) and the versitility of being able to fold it up and have full use of the bed. I am very happy with how this cover meets those 3 needs. It is not the most water-tight system, some water will get into the box.

The low profile and easy assembly of this cover is what first captured my attention. Its load bearing capability and security added to the attraction. My truck is black plus I had black spray-on liner added to include the rails. The finishes on the cover almost perfectly match the trucks paint as well as the spray-on liner, making for a combination that really looks great. Since it is winter here, the temperatures have been low which may account for some moisture intrusion but I believe this will end after the seals get a chance to relax in the summer heat.

I did have to adjust the latches so that it would secure, otherwise you could easily unlatch it.Ii has been through rain and everything is nice and dry.An additional lock on the cover would be a good idea.

I received the cover, and mounted up the rails which went on easy enough.I then unpacked and attempted to fit the cover itself. Unfortunately no matter what I did, I was unable to get the front holes to fit over the slots on the rails. Eventually I was able to pull it enough so that it would fit onto both rails, but the bolt for the front is at a pretty good angle to do this.Lastly, because it isn't wide enough, only one side of the latches work. I measured the latches and compared it to the width that the rails sat at and it isn't wide enough to latch it closed on both sides.

Love the BakFlip. Went on easily and works great. The look is amazing and I have recieved many comments and compliments. The only issue that kept me from giving a straight 5 was use with my factory bed extender. In order for the extender to be pivoted into the bed of my 2001 Forntier Crew Cab short bed, I had to file on the rails and more than a little bit. It still rubs some, but can be lived with.

Previously I had a soft rollup cover and this one is much nicer. I bought a BakFlip cover for my Dodge Dakota a few weeks ago. Delivery was prompt and the cover fit perfectly. I did some research for this product and was not able to find any cover quite like it. I went to a local truck accessory dealer and the tri-fold cover they had did not come in the short bed size. Plus, it did not flip all of the way up to expose the entire bed of the truck - one of the options I had to have. So buying and installing the BakFlip had me doing back flips! With the fast delivery and easy, quick installation, my overall experience was excellent. The ease of use makes this cover very handy. I've also had compliments on how slick and sleek it is. Thanks for making such a versatile and useful product!

I was delighted with my BakFlip for my 2008 Honda Ridgeline. I needed a cover that would handle a good snow load. I checked some covers and found that some inhibit the entry into the in-bed trunk. From the pictures on the web it looked like this one was OK. I took a chance and ordered it. I'm from Canada and was concerned about getting it accross the boader as well. No problem except for UPS delayed the delivery a couple of days (something about UPS uses Purilator in my area and the two can't get together on comunications). After I did get it the installation was a snap. Done in a half hour and looks great. The BakFlip matches the trim on the box and tailgate perfectly. I was a little worried when I unpacked it the seals on the sides and back (at the tailgate) were wrinkled a bit (just from the protective packing). My concern was it wouldn't seal very well like that but in a couple days evan though it was cold up here those seals layed themselves right down and started to look good and do their job as designed. Would I give the thumbs up for you to buy a BakFlip?Absolutely Yes!!! Oh I did have one slight problem. The warning sticker that tells you to close the tailgate first before closing the last section of cover came off and won't stick back on in our cold weather up here. I'll wait for spring now and reglue it in the warm weather.

I have a 2008 Nissan Titan w/utlitrak system. It was a little harder because of the extra steps of removing and turning them over but overall installation was not hard at all. I could not find anything about the front piece of the utlitrak system that was up aganist the bed and was not sure wether to remove it or not. It looked like it would fit with but after I installed the rails, I learned it was not going to fit. So, everyone w/ a Titan with Utlitrak remove the front piece. I love the way it looks and works. After searching the web for a ridgid Tonneau cover I came across the BAK BakFlip. I liked the flexibility it offered by being able to open sections to fit the cargo, the low profile, being able to secure the contents in my bed, easy of installation and removal as well as storing the top. It was a purchase well worth it! The BakFlip was everything they said it was. The longest part of the install was cutting away the composite bedliner so the rails would fit - without the bedliner it would have been a 15 minute install! BakFlip stands behind their product, the rubber molding was cracked when I received the cover and BAK sent me a replacement - no hassles! I highly recommend the BakFlip as well as AutoAccessories Garage.com

What a great cover. Easy to install (aprox 45 minutes ) Looks very good, and I have had a lot of complements. I 've had people come over at gas stations and ask about it. The only negative comment I can make is it restricts the opening of the in-bed trunk, but you still have enough clearance to load /unload big items (not a big deal). I trimmed the rubber seal at the tailgate to give it a cleaner look, before it stuck out a little when looking from the side. I am very picky over quality and looks, so I highly recommend this cover over any other I have seen (and I looked at several).

The Bak Flip cover serves its purpose well as far as security and waterproof qualities. It is also fairly decent in appearance. The cover only sticks out about 1/4 above the top rails of the bed. It is also very versitile in the way that it flips into itself and has mounting brackets to hold it up while driving with it open. The only thing I don't like is the external rubber gaskets & seals for the watertightness. Overall I am pleased with the Bak Flip cover.

If I wasn't in dire need for the cover, I would have returned it. It didn't fit, I had to cut 1/4 inch from the rails to get my tailgate to close. The seals on both rails were missing sections of length. The trim tape is peeling from the inner edges of the panels. Some kind of adhesive was all over the inside of some panels, with a large glob at one corner that I had to cut off to get it to fit in the rail. The rubber seal that seals on the bed rail has a couple of heavily abraded areas on them. One of the forward latches fails to latch most of the time.
