Maximizing your horsepower and torque is as simple as a push of a button with Hypertech's Power Programmer III! Simply plug the Power Programmer into the underdash diagnostic plug, answer a series of "Yes/No" questions, and the Power Programmer does the rest. The Power Programmer is much more than a tuning chip. It is a self-contained automotive tuning computer!

When you connect the Power Programmer to your vehicle, its "smart" program immediately recognizes your vehicle's powertrain by reading the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The VIN contains specific information on the engine, transmission, and drivetrain, which the Power Programmer decodes before it downloads the Power Tuning program that is precisely tailored to your car or truck.

With the Power Programmer you choose Hypertech's Power Tuning program for regular 87 octane or premium 93 octane gasoline. Both options improve performance without detonation. After the tuning program is selected, the Programmer automatically installs the program and allows you to access and reprogram the vehicle's computer to function properly with aftermarket components like non-stock tire sizes and rear-end gear ratios.

The Power Programmer is incredibly powerful, but it is also incredibly easy to use. Reprogramming does not require any tools or knowledge of cars or even computers. Plus, you can return to OEM (stock) programming in just minutes.

Hypertech is the technology leader in High-performance engine tuning computer-controlled vehicles. Electronic engine controls have evolved rapidly since their introduction in the early ’80s. Early automotive computers used replaceable PROMs or “chips” to calibrate the Electronic Control Module (ECM) for a specific engine, powertrain, and vehicle combination. Hypertech created the original Power Chips to recalibrate these electronic “brains” for improved performance.

Later generations of Electronic Control Units (ECU) eliminated calibration chips. Instead, engine tuning information is stored in the unit’s programmable memory. In addition to controlling basic engine functions, microprocessors now monitor and govern a wide range of systems, including the transmission, brakes, instrument panel, emission controls, and heating/air conditioning. For comparison, the code stored in an early chip would fill one page; now a typical ECU contains more than 1,600 pages of code!

In addition to controlling engine functions such as air/fuel mixture, spark timing, and maximum rpm, these highly evolved ECUs also regulate transmission shift points and firmness, limit top speed, and display speedometer and odometer readings.
