Industry reports say that the average catalytic converter thief needs nothing more than thirty seconds and a battery-powered saw blade to strip your vehicle of its converter. Usually containing palladium, platinum, and/or rhodium, a stolen catalytic converter can fetch thieves a pretty penny, not to mention cost you up to $1,000 in total repair costs to get it replaced. Protect yourself by neutralizing that saw and prolonging those precious seconds with the CatClamp Catalytic Converter Lock.

Fully stainless steel construction is the secret to the success of the CatClamp Ant-theft Cage Device. Nearly unbreakable and impossible to saw with a standard handheld, this rope forms an impenetrable barrier around your catalytic converter. Combined with split clamp assemblies placed on each side of your car converter, this system keeps your converter safe. Split-collar cage ends allow this herculean rope to pass through it as many as eight different times, and the collars on your Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Prius, or Honda Element catalytic converter lock, or those for whatever vehicle you own, make sure everything stays in one place upon tightening.

Upgrading to the Cat Clamp MAXX lock gives you even more protection. In addition to everything you get with the standard Cat Clamp, you'll also enjoy 100% stainless steel construction of both split-collars. Don't run the risk of having to foot the bill for an expensive catalytic converter replacement. Make sure thieves will skip your car with the made in the U.S.A. CatClamp Catalytic Converter Lock. Backed by a 1-Year Warranty for the standard Cat Clamp and a Lifetime Warranty for the MAXX.

Will this fit my vehicle? Designed for a universal fit, both the Standard and MAXX Locks are designed to fit common catalytic converter pipe diameters of 1.75” to 3”. These locks work best with 3” of available space around the point of contact for each of the two clamps. Compatible with gas and small diesel engines.

I had 2 catalytic converters stolen from the same 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid this year. So far so good in that no one has tried to remove the CatClamp. It took about an hour for my mechanic to install using a lift.

In the past we had several catalytic converters stolen. After installing these guards, would-be thieves left as soon as they saw the guards installed on our vehicles. Having these guards in place stopped theft completely.

Once I got the SUV up on jackstands and everything laid out next to me, the install went pretty quick. The biggest concern for me was how far I could extend those loops out to secure the clamp to the frame without running out of cable. As it turned out, I had several feet of cable left that I coiled up and secured to the frame with a bunch of zip ties. The whole thing looks like some kind of red neck fix, but if it works, I don't care!

I cannot rate performance as I have no knowledge other than it has been installed and I hope it is a huge deterrent. I rated appearance a point lower as the item was shown as having RED visual deterrent features (misrepresented) Each time that I tried to order the RED, the other item was shown, so I then called and I spoke with a nice salesperson who informed me that though it is shown with RED that they could NOT guarantee me that I would get one with RED as they are GENERIC. Again, false and misleading product info (labeling). I worked 10+ yrs for a Fortune 1000 company. And know that even generic, listed as saleable, comes with its own Item Description # for purchasing. I must commend you on getting the item time really fast over the New Year weekend. Since there is, NO other place to state this for those of us who choose to, NOT USE SOCIAL MEDIA, I hope the review arrives.

Overall the CatClamp is a very easy to install DIY friendly product. Really happy with the results and the amount of protection it provides. Also there’s plenty of cable length wise, I was able to protect both my CCs with the cable and hardware provided. Well worth the cost and time to protect your expensive and targeted CCs. I highly recommend the CatClamp.

I bought the Cat Clamp Standard. It took just over an hour for my muffler guy to install on my 2010 Honda Accord. He could not install the screw bolts as he did not have the exact star bit to fit it has a larger post than his standard bit possessed and had to grind a slot to make it a slotted screw to tighten. So it might help if Cat Clamp provided a cheap bit to help with the installation. The cables could not really attach too much more than the exhaust pipes, so I am not sure if it will deter the most dedicated thief.

To all concerned:....This product is a decent design....no, it's not 100% proof that it can keep that converter on your vehicle, but it can certainly slow the thieves down...a lot...I think it's priced too high for the parts that you receive, but in today's world everything is too high....I feel better that I have it installed on my Class A Motorhome and I like the concept that it is a open design so the converter can still perform as intended and the heat around it can be dissipated....some covers I have seen may cause the converter to run too hot....but only looks that way as I have not seen any test results from them...so, I would still recommend any one that is interested in keeping their converter on their vehicle to compare this to other methods and decide for themselves if this is the right way to go. For me, I have it installed and will also install some type of alarm system to further deter theft. Also, I add nuts to the ends of my security screws and will weld them onto the clamps...going to be a lot of work to try to remove it for sure.

I bought a pair of these for my 2012 Toyota Tacoma after my local Auto Repair shop had one of their techs swing under my truck to conform that I had more than one Cat Converter. They recommended I obtain the Kits myself and bring them in to them for installation. So, I contacted AAG on recommendation of a neighbor and ordered two kits. The Shop put three techs on my install - they were crawling all over my truck while it was on the lift, and from all indications did a really good job. I guess we'll know if we ever witness any thugs (who can't read the "Cat Clamp" stickers on the windows) crawl out from under empty-handed! I purchased and had these installed because I use my truck in my work every day, and the under $600 that the project cost will be recovered in just one instance of protecting my truck from being out of commission for possibly weeks and costing well north of 3 grand to replace the stolen converters! (BTW, here in the Front Range, Colorado area we are experiencing a spate of thefts - so I have to believe I made the right decision.)

Quality product. Installed myself lying on the ground with front tire on ramps. Biggest issue was finding places under the vehicle to route the cables through. Once that was determined, install went well. Routed the cables through rubber hose to shield cable from contacting metal on vehicle to prevent noise. Had extra cable and my bolt cutters would not cut it, so although a problem, it was good to see how tough the cable is. Cut the cable with my dremel and it took a good five minutes to cut it, so again pleased with how strong the cable is. I think anyone seeing the install will leave me alone. Highly recommended. I will install a second one today and it will take half the time as the first one.

Nice product. Appears to be well made. Had a professional muffler shop do the install after they replaced the stolen converter. I'm past wanting to crawl around under the truck. $100 was well worth it. The products brackets clamp around the exhaust pipe before and after the two converters on my truck. Bolts use hex insert heads. Muffler shop recommended using a drill about that size to bugger up the hex hole so thieves cannot just use a hex drive and unscrew the clamps. the converter again. Stays on - then excellent performance. Cat Clamp claims they guarantee it if installed properly. So far, HAPPY! P.S. The CatClamp arrived in short order. I had my mechanic install on my '07 Ridgeline, and now I have the best deterrent I could find. They provide plenty of cable that looks and feels tough. I can't imagine a thief wanting to take all that time to cut through all the cables necessary to steal my cat. Only one thing, the clamps are often shown painted in red. They come unpainted but look like they won't rust anytime soon.

The install was easy. we have installed two of these so far. On a sedan the install was a lot easier than on a truck. On the tuck the cables interfered and came in contact with a cross member. we could not find a way to install without contact with the cross member leaving us with a feeling that rubbing, wear and possible noise may be an issue in the future. Other than that it has been a pretty straight forward install process the true success will be if the vehicles do not get their CATs stolen anymore.

This is the solution for vehicles where a specific catalytic converter protective cover isn't available. My husband owns a 22 year old Toyota Sienna van, which we wrongly assumed thieves were not going to target for its catalytic converter. Started it up one morning and from the thunderous roar it made, we realized we'd been hit. We installed a cover under my Toyota Prius as soon as we started hearing about this latest blitz, but there wasn't anything for his older van. Research found the CatClamp, which is so versatile, it will fit almost any vehicle. The logic is that heavy gauge cable is hard to cut through with a battery powered saw, and with time being crucial, the thieves will look for an easier target. We understood the installation instructions, but realized it would be much easier for our mechanic to install with it up on a lift. He was willing, but not very clued in. He actually installed the whole thing without going around the essential anchor points on either side, and then cut off the "excess" cable. Grrr! Needless to say, we had him do it again, but because of the wasted cable, he was only able to go around two anchor points on one end and one on the other. If you can, do it yourself; if you can't, make sure your mechanic clearly understands what's required and have him put it up on the lift before you pay for it, so you can ensure it's installed properly. The CatClamp is a clever deterrent for converter thieves and is easily visible when you look under the chassis. Even though ours is not installed as recommended, it will still prove a deterrent, and we can retrofit additional cable with locks to add more anchor points.

The device appears to be well made, even though some of the welds are rough. The webpage images show a unit with clamps painted red, and having half round guards covering the threads where they are exposed between the clamps. The unit I received did not have these guards, and none of the parts were painted. Oh well, the heat would probably ruin the paint anyway. As long as the thing works, I'll be pleased.

I'm very happy with this product. There has been a lot of catalytic converter theft in my neighborhood, so I was grateful to find a product that would make the theft more difficult. I had a mechanic install it and it took him between 1-2 hours, so my total price to buy and install the Cat Clamp was around $300. Considering that it would cost me between $3-5000 if my cat got stolen, I am more than willing to pay this. Since install I have forgotten it was there, but more cats have been stolen in my neighborhood! I only wish the provided stickers were larger so they could be more easily seen by potential thieves- maybe bumper sticker size. Or, I would buy one if you made one!

Let's start by noting that the image is misleading. It shows the two halves of the clamps butted together. Mine did not butt, even using the smallest diameter insert. That leaves the threads of the bolts open to attack with a reciprocating saw, unless you can hide one by rotating the clamp. (See below.) Cutting through only one bolt isn't going to get the clamp off your converter. Two, the image does not indicate that you receive 40 feet of cable! That's far more than was necessary for my son's CR-V. It comes with two long zip ties that allow you to coil the excess and hang it in an out-of-the-way place under the car if you can find one. (We did. They say DO NOT CUT the cable.) We did not run cable aft of the CatClamp other than as short loops because there was nothing substantial to wrap it around anywhere near the converter. We ran some of the front loops around a part of the chassis, as directed. It can be difficult to fit the cable through the clamp slots. Be sure NOT to tighten the bolts beyond lightly finger-tight or you'll never succeed. Ours began to fray, making it even more difficult. I suggest giving the tip of the cable one tapered wrap of duct tape in order to help avoid this problem. The bolts require a special tool but it's not a unique tool. Some have suggested spot welding. We managed to rotate the clamps enough after tightening one side snugly to block access to the top of the bolt. I have considered filling the top of the exposed bolt with crazy glue to prevent it from ever being removed without cutting it. I don't know how it will work in the real world but I suspect it looks messy enough to many to make them move on to the next target.

Overall good value and only time will tell if it offers the deterrent value I bought it for. Installation went OK but a bit challenging for my Kia Optima as I had to run the cables an extra long distance at the back to catch a stationary member to loop around. I had about 2 feet of each cable to tie up and my only criticism is that it seems like something better than twist ties could have been provide. I will monitor them and, if I expect, they slip loose from vibration, I'll probably buy some cable clamps that will be more secure. Also, as others had commented, there is a bit of rattling because of the sheer number of components that the cables are close to combined with the challenge of cinching all those cable spans tight when you are tightening up the shims.

As advertised! Really easy to install and plenty of cable. The Clamps are an excellent design. Included in the kit are several different sized pieces that fit into the clamps so you get the proper diameter for you converter pipe so the clamp and cable are tight. I Sure wish I had this kit before my converter was stolen but our local Police department advised me that it is VERY common for the Thieves to return a few weeks after the first theft. I have a Full Size Ford Van and it is So easy to roll under it for the thieves! So adding the Cat Clamp Kit was (is) a Must!!

The cord provided isn’t long enough to go through all eight holes plus around parts of the bottom frame of the car. I have a 2006 Honda Accord and the bottom doesn’t have areas close enough to wrap around, the possible areas are near where the wheels are because in between, the surface is smooth and flat so there’s no other choice for me to wrap around.

I installed this one a 1st gen Toyota Tundra. The installation was simple and I was able to get under the truck on a crawler with half the truck on the sidewalk. It was enough room to work and the airplane cable was very easy to work with. Recommend that catclamp start including 2 window stickers to put on each side. This is all about making it difficult for thieves and the more they see that cats are protected. The quicker they move onto another vehicle.

I went to several muffler shops to see if they would be able to put the device on for me. Many of the shop owners had never installed a clamp before. I located a muffler shop owner, who too, had no idea how to install, yet he said he would try. It took a while because he said the cable wire had to lock in (I guess that was the language he used), but after a few hours they put it on. I was not upset, due to he and others never putting a clamp on before. I'm only giving four stars because so far, I have not had an issue since it's been installed. I hope and pray this is the deterrent needed to keep from having to replace another converter. This was the second converter I had stolen. As a plus, the turn around time for ordering the clamp was A-1. Ordered on a Thursday around midnight and received it on Saturday morning. It's still too early to say success, but please don't let this deter you the customer from purchasing one.

I had one of these installed years ago on a 2001 Toyota 4Runner. The setup does look intimidating to a thief. My cat has not been tampered with so I would say it's doing its job. I had purchased more for my other vehicles when some thief attempted to steal the cat on my other vehicle. They failed because of a broken saw blade and a neighbor leaving for work in the early in the morning. It is an insurance and it can be removed if any work needs to be done on the exhaust system. It's a good deterrent.

I won't know how well the product works until the next time (third time) someone tries to steal my catalytic converter. But I can definitely report that the staff at Auto Accessories Garage and at the manufacturer are wonderful -- highly motivated to make the customer's experience easy, pleasant and painless. My mechanics had trouble installing the device due to the lack of room between my exhaust pipe and heat shield (which had both been replaced after a rear-end collision). Heather at the manufacturer walked them through it over the phone and they were able to install it with her help. I can't find enough good things to say about these folks.

The Catclamp instructions are pretty straightforward. You need to take some time to review exactly where and HOW you are going to run the cable in order to get best effectiveness of the system. On my application, due to it being a Class "C" motorhome, the only real option was the transmission crossmember in the front and the driveshaft pillow block support for the rear. This is for an E-series E450 motorhome chassis with the 6.8L V10 engine and 4-speed heavy-duty transmission. Be sure to lay the cable out to get the twisting bends out, and it goes pretty easy once the front and rear clamps with appropriate pipe diameter inserts are in place. Thread the cable through per instructions and then tighten everything down in stages for best clamping action. Excess cable can be routed to a point or clamped using c hardware cable clamp to attach it to an existing cable you just ran (my solution). Took about an hour crawling under the chassis to install it.

Bought one for daughter's SUV after her converter was stolen twice in one month (Chicago)...YIKES!! So my other daughter who lives in the city just purchased a Jeep Wrangler I knew better than wait to see if it would happen to her. The SUV has not been touched in a year and the Jeep was new and just installed last week. Since this was the second one I put on it was easier but anyone with a little mech ability can do it. It looks intimidating and I'm sure 'would-be thieves' see it and just move on to the next victim. Cars with more road clearance seem to be the vehicle of choice.

I purchased the CatClamp online and it came the next day. I took it to the Honda dealer who was doing the work replacing my second stolen catalytic converter. When I searched the internet to find something to protect my catalytic converter, I didn't know such a device existed. When I found it, I was thrilled and immediately ordered it. The mechanic who installed it said that he had never heard of such a device. He was fascinated with installing it and even took pictures of it! So, I sure hope that this is the last catalytic converter that I'll ever need on my Honda Element!

This is either the best or the only cat clamp product on the online market I could obtain. Before dawn one morning, my catalytic converter disappeared. So this clamp solves the issue. If you have an SUV-type vehicle with higher clearance over the road [under which it's easy to crawl], I would say that a cat clamp is the best deterrent to thieves.

Installed on my owned-since-new '90 4Runner, which is something I should have done a long time ago even though fortunately I hadn't had my cat ripped-off. This is a fairly easy install for the 4Runner as plenty of room underneath without jacking up the vehicle and plenty of places to tie into the chassis without rubbing against any vital parts (ie hoses, lines etc.) The most time-consuming thing is figuring out where you want to anchor the wires but don't get too extreme on looping the wires too far from the cat or you will run out of length and have to start all over again (I had just enough comfortably left to sandwich loose ends between the upper and lower clamp on each end and so I know those ends aren't going to fly off and start rubbing a brake line or hose). As far as quality, before you begin, I strongly suggest you clean/oil/inspect the clamp threads as one of the threads was a little dodgy and not really great machining although in the end, bolts went on without cross-threading. Also I strongly recommend you don't torque the bolts to 12 lbs as suggested as you will strip the bolt heads as bolt head is softer than I would have liked; instead just tighten as tight as you can by hand without using a long-handle torque wrench and you will be fine (be sure and take as much tension out of the wires by hand first, although you don't need to get crazy about it as when you tighten the bolts the wires tighten up nicely if you have taken out as much slack as you can). I also used the supplied safety ties to bunch the wires on each end and I used aircraft safety wire to keep the ties from slipping out of position). If you do all this, take your time and follow the instructions exactly, you will end up with a noise-free install that you won't even know is there (I would put a few miles on it and recheck for slack before I silicone the bolts heads to prevent a thief who managed to get a hold of the special bolt-head tool). So, that said, I would say you definitely need one of these things if you have a vehicle susceptible to cat theft, which the 2nd Gen. 4Runners are the prime candidates (just ask any 2nd Gen 4Runner owner who hasn't had his cat ripped off)!

Good basic concept, but the embellish on what models of car this clamp fits. I have one on both my Honda Element and CRV (which they advertise the catclamp fits on) and they were both an extreme pain to install. The amount of space around the exhaust pipe needed to easily install this device just isn't there. If you buy one for a Honda Element or CRV, be ready to hack saw parts of the clamp off to make it fit under your car.

The product is average. I am glad to have it, as I think it will deter repeat theft of my catalytic converter. However, it took over 4 hours to install. The install is supposed to be easy, however it was complicated. The steel rope that is used is difficult to manipulate, so it took a long time to be able to manipulate it to fit into the small holes on the clamp pieces. It is one large rope piece, so not easy to maneuver. Not all cars have easy frame points to loop the steel around, so it takes some creativity. The manufacturer also recommends just attaching the extra remaining steel rope with a zip tie -- however, that seems clumsy and noisy. We ended up cutting it with a torch to shorten it. My dad, a professional mechanic, installed it. I am not sure that someone could install it without a lift and/or torch, easily. Overall, I hope it is worth all the trouble and will deter theft - it certainly looks like it will.
