Lund Genesis Elite Tonneau Cover

The Lund Tonneau cover is a great product. The quality is great. It also has a lifetime warranty. I installed it in about 20 minutes and it was very easy to install. You won’t be disappointed with it. I’m very happy with it.

The product arrived on the time and fit vehicle. Haven't had it long enough to see how well it works.

I bought this cover for my 2019 Tacoma because I had one for ten years on my 2009 and was very happy with it. Not so much with this one; Lund has obviously changed their hold down design for the worse since then. To start with, the brackets that mount to the bed rail are stamped steel plates that must be mounted and secured using cap screws. The old design used a lug that slid into the rail and needed no screws. The lug also floated inside the rail making installation easier, especially the front segment. The old hold down clamps used an cammed design that secured the cover with an easy stroke of a lever and had adjustable clamping pressure. In the new design, the front clamps are similar, but instead using a cammed lever, they use a winged turnbuckle that must be cranked down by hand to secure the front segment (and cranked back out when you want to remove the cover). Even worse are the rear clamps. Instead of the easy to operate lever action, they are spring loaded and must be pulled down until the hook on the clamp clears the lip on the rail bracket and then positioned under the bracket while holding pressure against the spring and then released. The spring is very stiff, and you must pull the clamp straight down to compress it; not an easy task given that your arm has to be extended while doing it. Also, you cannot adjust the hold down pressure. Finally, the old style clamps could be locked; the new ones cannot. And to add insult to injury, the new cover leaks all along the rail caps. The skinny bulb gaskets just don't have the seal surface that to old foam gaskets did.
