My old base plate bent in a high wind storm two times, even after it was rewelded. This Blue Ox base plate is two times heavier and works like a charm.

There is no doubt this is a high quality product. It is well built and fits my car perfectly. You'll do a little drilling as per the directions, but won't have to fabricate or bang anything with a hammer to make it all work. I'm very pleased with the end result and it works exactly as expected. As a note, I custom built pivot brackets to enable my using a non-BlueOx tow bar I already owned. Otherwise, these odd tab spacings will require you to buy their tow bar. I only knock it down a star because I think the tabs are longer than they need to be and do stick out a few inches from the fascia. They are not obnoxious, just a little extra length.

It's interesting that 5 other suppliers on the internet said no baseplate was available for my car, a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire convertible and this one fit perfectly. No problems installing at all; took about 3 hours. When the attatchment pins are removed nothing shows at all on the car.
