The assembly instructions aren't very clear but it goes together logically, all the parts were there and they fit exactly as they should. It it amazingly convenient. It can be opened as far as you need or all the way. The same for closing. I have used it to close on long boards where it was sturdy enough to hold them in place during trips. I wish I had this much earlier and I would have saved myself a lot of inconvenience trying handle the factory tonneau cover. which was a bear to lock in place and relock everytime I needed access to the truck bed. The only down drawbacks are the space lost to the mechanism and the fact that it isn't waterproof. There are some large open gaps at the tailgate.
