Fit Towing & Hitch Reviews
Installation was relatively straightforward. The most challenging aspect was removing the rubber brackets that hold the muffler in place. The hitch seems very sturdy and is attached to the car securely. One, minor complaint: the trailer hitch came with the manufacturer sticker on the surface that is adjacent to the muffler when installed. I was concerned that the paper of the sticker could be a fire hazard so close to a high heat component of the vehicle. So, I tried to remove the sticker. This required a paint scraper and great care not to damage the paint. A more easily removable sticker would be a idea. (I deducted the one star from the appearance rating due to the sticker.) I had U-Haul install it for like 70 bucks. The install involved drilling into the spare tire well and I didn't have the tools to do it. Shipping was fast and it looks and works well.
Excellent product. Instructions were easy to follow and installation only took me 35 minutes.
Curt Model 11406 Receiver hitch for 2015 Honda Fit - The only issue I have is that the rear muffler rests against the hitch, as it is a bit of a tight 'fit', so it currently sounds like I have a boy racer exhaust system back there due to the vibration. I plan to bend the muffler hangers down just a bit to hopefully cause the muffler to hang a little lower and not press against the hitch. That should stop the noise.
1)The hitch was delivered all beaten up and scratched because of poor packaging. Components of the hitch were hitting each other in the box. I spray painted the hitch silver to match the car body. 2) One of the plates that was placed inside a frame started spinning in there as I was tightening the bolt. That took me about two hours and additional hardware to solve. I suggest providing adhesive or making protrusions to keep plates from spinning. I also suggest making plates more narrow so they fit through the holes without filing slots. (those 4 plate washers that go into the frame holes) 3)The hitch is a bit too flexible for a bike rack full of bikes. 4) Bottom wire loop hits a curb. Why is it there? 5) The hitch was a little cocked, making it harder to install. If you are a customer, don't cut slots in the frame holes, grind down rectangular washers to fit through the hole, epoxy them in place. Tighten nuts to torque spec only after epoxy dries... Or use vice-grips to keep bolts (also plates) from turning.
