    I took my time and cleaned up a lot of old parts along the way but if you are just hammering it out, you can get it done ~ 20 minutes. Everything fit well together. Zero problems. My only possible concern is the security of the system. When locked, the handle partially opens but is caught on one side my the lock and just doesn’t feel die-hard secure. Maybe it won’t open but I can see someone breaking off my handle in attempt to override the lock. still super glad I got it to keep general issues at bay.

    Works as described, easy to install, looks like an OEM part. I have had one on my 1998 Tacoma and it is still working properly so I bought one for my 2002 Tacoma which uses the same part number. It locks the tailgate and keeps my bed extender and tailgate from being stolen.

    Purchased the Pop and Lock for my 2004 Tacoma. As I was installing the system, the tongue and groove portion of the handle that you can barely see in the file photo broke. The system was useless. I sent an email to AAG.com and a new one was shipped at no charge. Upon arrival I installed it without any problems and enjoy having a locking tail gate with a Flip Bak bed cover. The price is high for the plastic handle and small lock, but if it prevents a theft from my truck, it pays for itself. Its not heavy duty, so I would call it theft resistant, not theft proof.
