Kia Soul Trailer Hitches & Towing

The install went alright except for the existing body nuts threads were rusted up. I used the bolts taken out of the tow bracket and WD40 to clean them up, When I tried to install the hitch the was an obstruction inside. Just past the hole for the pin. I ended up having to grind down the hitch to get it in.

It took me several hours to install, no fault to Curt Mfg. It was due to the bolt holes that Kia had painted full of paint. I advise removing your wheels when installing as it makes it a lot easier. Read more Curt Receiver Hitch customer reviews.

I got this Curt hitch because it seemed better quality and heavy duty than etrailer hitch, thus more expensive. This uses 6 bolts vs etrailer's 4. Installation was a bit difficult, because I was alone, however, I used a jack on the other side to line up all bolts. One of the vertical bolts is hidden above the rail, making it impossible to use the ratchet. This is not mentioned in the instructions. You can still get to it with a wrench, if you remove the canister. However, can't torque it.
