Truck: 2018 Chevy Silverado, Crew Cab, Short Bed, LT Overall, I am pleased with this cover. In my opinion, Leer generally makes good products. I once owned one of their Fiberglass Toppers (Cap) on an old truck of mine, so I wasn't shy about trying their stuff again. My initial install was maybe 30 minutes. It is pretty straight forward. Two rails, some brackets and the cover. I do have a warning though. The directions were insufficient and I have two points of contention. (1) Leer includes Butyl Tape with the installation kit, but they do not mention in their instructions what they included it for. I could not find any videos that explained it, either. I still don’t know. Which part(s) are we trying to water proof? (2) The Emergency Clamps (as defined in their instructional video) were challenging to figure out. There was so much of a slant when inserting the Emergency Clamps into the key holes at the front of the cover, I honestly thought I got the wrong sized cover. I had to watch the video on their 650 model to understand the Emergency Clamps had to be installed straight up and down. I didn’t start looking for help until after I took a 250 mile road trip where the vibration was so bad, I was questioning my decision to buy this. The hypothesis I developed was that air was getting under the front of the cover and creating a resonance that could be seen visually, and heard inside the cab. I wondered if it was because I had removed the plastic, factory bed liner. So I went to Lowe’s in search of foam tape. It is standard issue on fiberglass toppers. Looking at the dimensions between true “camper tape” and the thicker Sponge Window Seal (pictured here), I chose the latter. For reference, it is Lowe’s item # 297209 ($7). After cleaning the bed rail closest the cab, I laid this all of the way across, flush with the Leer rails and Chevy bed rail caps (pictured here). I do not think you need this is you leave your bed liner in. Just my opinion, though. I then inserted the Leer Emergency Clamps as far forward (cab side) as I could get them. Once everything was square, I tightened the Emergency Clamps down as tight as I could get them by hand. The Emergency Clamps straightened out in a way they had not before. I honestly don’t know what I did wrong the first time. I used a lot of manual manipulation by tugging the clamps inward, toward the center of the bed with one finger, while I tightened each clap with the other hand. Even though they started at a significant slant, they tightened up straight. Go figure. Between the foam tape and the tightening method described above, it seemed to have sealed the air out. I have since road tested and it seems to have stopped the vibration. Bottom line - I like the look. I am curiously awaiting a good rain to test the seal, and genuinely enjoy their Cync Latching System. That thing is a winner! Leer, you need to have a talk with your technical writers, though. I used to install truck accessories at a shop while in college. I’m not as salty as your employees, but I am not a novice either. There are a couple of holes in your instructions that could use some fine tuning. But, I would buy this product again. The three-fold is great if you don’t mind your third brake light being covered when erected. If you don’t want to cover the brake light, get the four-fold 650 model. This is a good cover and worth a shot!
